Remortgage self employed! 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Hi, My fixed term is due to end in June, i am looking into the benefits of a new fixed term or staying on the standard variable rate. The main issue is that my wife is about to start working self employed and we are not sure how this will effect the remortgage! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Who is your existing lender? If you approach them they should offer you some products to switch too and there is generally no application process meaning the upcoming change in status to your wifes employment will not matter.

Aside form this speak to an IFA and request some mortgage advice to ascertain all other options.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your valuable information. If you are self-employed or perhaps working on a cash basis, you could be financially sound, and able to keep up your payments, but that doesn't make it any easier for you to prove you will keep up payments to your new lender. They want to ensure that you will be able to keep up payments for the term of your remortgage, not just over the next 12 months. If you are on a contract, you maybe are not guaranteed to get it renewed. You will need to look for a self-employed remortgage.

Thanks a lot
