Hi

I need some advice me and my partner are looking into getting a house with a mortgage, I have a few questions she has a child from a previous relationship so she gets child benefit, income support etc would this effect us getting a mortgage?

I earn over the average a year and the house we are looking at is £190,000

Basic facts for obtaining a mortgage - need 10% deposit, average income multiple for a bank lending money is 4, so is your salary going to stack up to 190k-19k/4? That is not an exact figure though as your partner could add her benefits to the income, but also the lender would take off a certain amount within the affordability calculation for the child.
