looking to get a mortgage now on my own but just concerned about the fixed rate etc so just a quick question i want to ask.

i was to get a mortgage with a fixed rate of say 6% for two years after this finishes i would go onto a tracker mortgage isit or variable not quick sure but anyway i would follow the bank of England rates.

say if this doubled to 12% does that mean my mortgage repayments would double? hope this makes sense.

You would probably be going on the banks variable rate not tracker. The bank variable rate does sort of go in line with the bank of England _base_ rate but don't worry too much that if in 2 years time the _base_ rate is at 5/6% the svr of the banks is unlikely to be at 10/12%. it's just that the banks now are not passing on the full benefit of the low bank _base_ rate.
