A Credit score is the worthiness of that person on the credit report basics and Foreclosure is the term to use for the short payments of any mortgage.Yes it definitely effect the credit score.

Credit score is a points _base_d system that lenders rely on to approve your application. Certain elements on your application may not be beneficial in clocking up the point eg no home telephone number, several addresses in a short space of time, adverse credit entries etc. Foreclosure is the process whereby the lender reposesses your property for breaching the terms of your mortgage.

I would like advice you to visit wikipedia for better understanding. Also if you need to calculate mortgage rates _base_d on your credit score First Mortgage West might be one of the best choice.
